While exploring you encounter a great deal of alien creatures, most of which seem less than interested in the young group of tourists. You find that certain parts of the city have a sky of a strange, forever twilight, twisting abyss of color and light, with shapes and bodies of matter which are surprisingly hypnotic. Other sections, however, have a normal sky, complete with clouds, blue, and a sun. You expect these ares are far removed from eachother, both in distance and class, and you reach them not by walking, but by using the large teleportation platforms scattered around the city. After several hours of exploring, and shopping, the Inevitable catches up with you all outside a toyshop, Kyron is peering in the window, likely trying to figure out the purpose of the more bizarre items, as many of the things inside do not at all resemble conventional toys. The Inevitable looks a bit cranky - he did just spend several hours at an extra-planar post office - but as he gets closer he smiles. He is carrying a large box carefully. He shifts it into the crook of his right arm and waves.
Stella: Stella seems to have some interest in the "toys" as well, although she stands apart from the group as per her usual distancing nature and is only giving the window the occasional side glance. It's only really noticeable she has any interest due to everywhere else she looks seems to be in passing. When TI shows up, she straightens up. She doesn't return the wave but it is clear she's seen him.
Kyron: Kyron is too distracted by the things inside the shop to notice the Inevitable.
Ares: Ares waves cheerfully to Eddie and appears to be in a good mood. He has some nice new boots, too.
Ava: Ava jumps up from her bench, having a small treat in her hand as she walks up to him and hands him a piece, "Try it, it's delicious. How was the boring stuff?" Her armor looks cleaned, and her hair is pulled back into a high pony tail. Her little gift trinkets dazzle slightly on her armor.
The DM: He grins at her and accepts the piece, nomming it, and giving a nod of approval. After a moment he replies. "Boring. I never want to do that again. How about you guys, have fun?"
Kyron: Kyron scratches his head and reluctantly draws his attention away from the shop window. "Uhh... yeah..." He says distractedly.
Ava: "Yeah it was okay I guess." She looks at Kyron, giving an odd look, "Sent a small package today to De- a friend." She grins a little sheepishly.
The DM: Eddie laughs at Kyron. "I brought you guys something, It's not a whole lot, but I passed the shop on the way here." He opens the box and reveals it is full of odd-looking doughnuts.
Ares: Ares eagerly grabs one and examines it. "This place is awesome" he replies offhandedly. "They have more bullet materials than I knew existed. Like what the hell is Nexavarian metal?"
Stella: Stella peers at the box and lets the others grab first, but she does intend on pulling one out, at least.
Ava: "What.. What is that." She sounds a little bit in awe, stuffing the rest of her treat in her mouth and grabbing a doughnut.
The DM: The pastry Ares is holding is pink, but turns blue when he grabs it.
Kyron: Kyron walks up and peers in to the box, eying them suspiciously.
Ares: Ares looks suspicious, poking at it.
Kyron: Kyron pulls one out that couldn't possibly be anything but a plain chocolate donut.
The DM: It squeaks.
Kyron: Kyron frowns.
Kyron: Then frowns some more.
The DM: "They're edible. Quite good really. I had one on the way here."
Ava: Ava's has some sprinkles on it, looking ecstatic as she takes a bite.
Ares: Ares takes a huge bite of his.
You whisper to Ares: it seems to fizz oddly in your mouth, but it's not terribly unpleasant. Serving to enhance the flavor... which is blue. Blue tastes pretty good actually.
Ares: "... Oh god, I'm allergic to magic!" Ares starts choking.
The DM: Eddie laughs.
Ava: "No you're not." She says with a full mouth, the doughnut almost gone.
Ares: He takes another bite
Stella: Stella just grabs the one closest to her after the others have grabbed theirs, although she seems to be holding it gingerly.
Kyron: Kyron rips the donut in half and ensure himself that there is no mouse inside of it before taking a bite.
The DM: It squeaks again, but protests no further.
You whisper to Kyron: it tastes like chocolate. Very awesome chocolate.
Stella: Stella is about as "amused" as anyone would expect her to be. She does mimic Kyron's action though, although she tears off a small piece rather than ripping it in half.
Kyron: Kyron munches on the donut slowly, looking for that soda he put down earlier.
Kyron: He walks over and grabs it from near the toy store window.
Stella: She finally puts a piece in her mouth.
You whisper to Stella: It tastes wonderful, like cinnamon rolls, nostalgia, and soft pink wrapped into one thing.
Stella: She raises her eyes and after looking at the donut for a moment shrugs and begins eating it more like a normal person.
Stella: Although there seems to be some effort in not doing a 180 on how she was eating it before.
Ares: "So let's get on with the rest of it, eh?"
The DM: Eddie grabbs himself a donut and closes the box. "We're schedualed to leave in about an hour. It should take us about half that long to get the Gate if we hurry.
Ava: She finishes the doughnut, delicately licking the tips of her fingers and then looking at TI. "Well let's go then."
Ares: "Did you want to do some more shopping?"
Ares: Ares looks to Eddie, poor guy, stuck in the post office.
The DM: Eddie starts walking off. He tugs on his shoulder bag, "Already picked up a few things."
Ava: "Like what?" She quickly falls in step next to him, trying to keep up.
Ares: Ares nods, following after him. "So, the plan when we get back?"
Kyron: Kyron follows along behind him quietly, munching away on his donut and washing it down with a soda.
Stella: Stella trots to kep up with the group, but is remaining silent, mots of her attention focused on the conversation between TI and Ares.
The DM: "Dunno. Follow the leads you got from Black Granite about the smugglers. Find them. Kick ass and take names?"
Kyron: "Do we have to take names?"
The DM: He thinks about a moment. "I suppose not."
Ava: "And do we have to actually kick ass?"
Ava: "Can't we kill them instead?"
The DM: He frowns.
Ava: She gives a blank look.
The DM: "I'd rather avoid killing them if that is at all possible."
Kyron: "I think the followers of Leo had blood on their mind when they spoke to us."
Ares: Ares chuckles a little. "Save the children, at least"
The DM: "Yes, well. That's Leo. That sort of thing is to be expected."
Ava: Ava grumbles, "Fine, no killing."
The DM: You reach the Gates again, one moment being nowhere near them - so far away that the massive structure is nowhere in sight - to being inside the complex. Eddie checks his watch. "I guess we'll just wait..." and then proceeds on until he reaches a small room, much like the glass room you were in before... except only the floor is glass. Just outside the doorway (one of the three anyway), you spot the man from Haven arguing with the wizard from earlier that day. The man is leaned against the doorway, and from his back atleast, he appears completely at ease with the wizard, who is gesticulating madly, and talking in a harsh, but quieted voice.
Ares: Ares grins, taking a seat near the doorway to listen in a bit while he waits
Kyron: Kyron looks on at the two of them, finishing off his soda. "Wonder what they're talking about..."
Ava: Ava tilts her head to the side, taking a seat next to Ares.
Kyron: « 1d20+11 = 15 + 11 = 26 » Perception
Ares: « 1d20+24 = 12 + 24 = 36 » Perception
Stella: « 1d20+2 = 16 + 2 = 18 » Perception
Ava: « 1d20+7 = 18 + 7 = 25 » I see what you did there.
You whisper to Ares, Kyron, and Ava: The wizard seems to be scolding him for some prank or another, as well as his apparent inability to be serious about important matters, and "would you please wipe that goddamn smirk off your face. and listen to me?!" He goes on, talking about how the man can't behave like that, especially if he wants to be allowed in Turris.
Ares: Ares grins, carefully not watching them except with his third eye periodically, though even that might be noticed
Ava: Ava is discreet, taking note of their conversation.
Kyron: Kyron just stands next to the rest of the party, watching them pair with interest, obviously listening in on the conversation.
Ares: Ares takes a moment to get the dossier's from Keeper, looking over them for clues to a lead while still listening in.
You whisper to Ares: the man gave you a discrete little wave behind his back during the conversation.
The DM: After awhile the wizard throws his arms up and walks into the room - while the fedora-wearing man chuckles to himself and walks away down the hall. The wizard notices the Inevitable and groans, turning, noting the man in the hall and groans again. (TI is standing in the other doorway)
The DM: Eddie smiles at the Wizard deviously.
Ava: Ava squints in suspicion.
The DM: The wizard sighs. "They're not finished yet."
The DM: Eddie snorts. "Damnit Kyle, you're so full of it."
Kyron: "Who's not finished what?"
Ava: "Kyle?" She mouths to Ares.
Ares: Ares shrugs, not even looking up from the papers but not missing anything
The DM: The wizard, Kyle, rolls his eyes. "I told you I was busy today!"
The DM: "You're still mad at me, aren't you?"
The DM: Kyle snorts and walks out of the room, shoving past Eddie.
Ava: Ava puts a hand over her mouth in the signal of, "Oh snap".
The DM: Once he's gone the Inevitable grins. "Ah well. Atleast he's talking to me now."
Ava: "Who was that?"
Kyron: "Why's he so grumpy?"
The DM: "Kyle, and hell if I know. He's always like that."
The DM: "Oh!" Eddie holds up his cane. "He's the one who made this for me."
Kyron: Kyron rubs his chin. "Hmm...."
Ares: Ares blinks. "Ask him to make another for me?"
Ares: "Well. Not that it sounds like he's really making anything for you anymore." he chuckles
Ava: "Maybe you should give him a gift basket. I heard that does great for apologies."
Ava: "It's better when stolen though, gives more to the thought."
Ava: "No, wait.." She stops, thinking about the statement, "No yeah it gives more to the thought."
The DM: Eddie laughs at Ava's rambling, and glances at his watch. "Looks like it's about time to go anyway."
Ares: "Could you try to have him make us something to hide from the time demon? And can your staff teleport us without going through his plane if we stay in one time?" Ares stopped reading, looking up to TI
Ava: Ava raises her eyebrows, "Ask him with a gift basket."
The DM: "Asked him already... He said maybe... and, I... doubt it. I could try though..." He frowns, musing. "Best I try it with no one along for the ride though, in case things go catastrophically wrong. as they are wont to do..."
Ava: "I'm telling you Nevey, get him a gift basket. With timey wimey things. It'll be great." She stands now, stretching a bit.
Ares: Ares sighs. "Stuck in one time and place again. What good are you." he grins, standing.
The DM: "Nevey?"
Ava: "Yeah I was too lazy to say your name so I said Nevey."
Ares: "I woulda gone with table."
Ava: "GIFT BASKET."
The DM: He laughs. 'Sure. A gift basket with timey-wimey things."
Ava: "I win." She sticks her tongue out at Ares.
Ava: "You should try giving him a sonic screwdriver thing. I saw it in one of the shops."
The DM: "I saw those... they seemed sort of silly to me."
Kyron: "I saw some laser ones... they looked so much better."
Ares: Ares groans a bit, moving to try to get TI to lead
Stella: Stella holds two fingers to her forehead in a sort of light facepalmp
Ava: "You never know, it might come in handy." She said shrugging, "Oh get him orchids, too. And gourmet chocolate. It'll be fantastic."
Stella: (AVA IS CLEARY A CLOSET YAOI FANGIRL)
The DM: A little chime sounds and TI look at Ares, then everyone else. "Time to go. We'll continue this conversation when we arrive. Oh! We're going to the Imperial City by the way - not going to be there long, and there will probably be kobold resources. I mean escorts. Just warnin"
The DM: Eddie walks though the door and you all file off and get *poofed* away!
Ares: (Did Ares get any ideas of where to start from reading?)
The DM: (yes)
Ares: (preferably places not in Black Granite?)
The DM: (yes)
